Alliance Française, Dubai

During the summer of 2021, I programmed a short film series about cities, people and urban culture with invited guest speakers for post screening discussions.
All were in-person screenings at Alliance Française in Dubai.

June 12: A Fallible Girl (Conrad Clark, UAE, 2013) + Post screening discussion with Dr. Yuting Wang, Professor of Sociology at the American University of Sharjah and the author of Chinese in Dubai: Money, Pride and Soul-Searching.

June 13: Made in Dubai - Short films by Amirah Tajdin & Music videos by Philip Jamal Rachid + post screening discussions with the filmmakers

July 10: NASIR (Arun Karthick, India, 2020)  + Post screening discussions with:
Sabih Ahmed, curator and writer based in Dubai. His curatorial work and research focus on modern and contemporary art through diverse itineraries, languages and inter-disciplinary formations. He serves as the Associate Director and Curator of the Ishara Art Foundation, a non-profit art organisation in Dubai that is dedicated to presenting contemporary art of South Asia and South Asian diaspora.

Vinita Bharadwaj, previously written about film, art and culture for several regional and international titles. She is also a part-time podcast producer and host of the show KarāmaSūtra.

August 28: Dreamaway (Marouan Omara, Johanna Domke, Egypt, 2018) + Post screening discussion with Moustafa Zakaria, a Dubai based filmmaker.
